Never had I cringed and loathed every time a character made his entry in a movie scene so much, only to shed copious tears of pain when he died……until this man immortalized Severus Snape for me and a whole generation of Potterheads.
The world will remember him for his contributions to cinema and theatre, but he will forever remain Snape for a magic-struck kid whose journey started with the words “Professor Quirrell, in his absurd turban, was talking to a teacher with greasy black hair, a hooked nose, and sallow skin.” and ended with ““Albus Severus,” Harry said quietly, so that nobody but Ginny could hear, and she was tactful enough to pretend to be waving to Rose, who was now on the train, “you were named for two headmasters of Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew.””
Alan, always!
I’m so sad he’s gone. Thanks for this lovely post.

I love Alan Rickman. He was great in Dogma and I love Professor Snape. It was a shock to learn that he passed away. So unexpected and well before he was 80.

True. He was a legend in his own right. This was both shocking and saddening.

I’m with you on it. I loathed him so much only to love him hard towards the end. Lovely post.
Have a great day!

You know I’m currently reading Harry Potter novels (my childhood longing) – its amazing! I’ve read the first introductory line about Prof. Snape but I’m yet to read the concluding sentence. Your mention here gave a reason to look forward to a spectacular end 🙂 Alan will always be alive in our hearts for his eternal character he portrayed.

Ya it’s my first time and I’m liking it a lot. It’s among my all time favourites now.
I’ve been a huge fan of Harry Potter movies. I think I would have liked it even if I would be reading it for umpteenth time – its like watching Friends TV series 🙂
I also wrote review of the first book here – http://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1494459548

That’s really amazing! They are a classic. There’s nothing that comes even remotely close to these.
