Elmo And The Office

luther-siler

Elmo lay in a tangled mess of feathers and contraptions on the floor.

“I thought disguising myself as a canary would help me get this job!” he wailed (to the world or to himself, he knew not).

Poor little Elmo. At three and a half years old, he was still too young to understand the world.

Little did he know that what we achieve is a function of who we are on the inside, not who we project ourselves on the outside as.

Every week, storytellers from around the world gather for Friday Fictioneers where they interpret a prompt given by the amazing Rochelle. This week’s prompt, above, is by Luther Siler and this is my interpretation of it.

The bit in brackets tickled me for some reason. Overall, a very thoughtful story.

  2. That’s funny. I always got my best jobs when I was disguised as a canary.
