It takes a special person

To come over again

And remind you who you were

Siblings who’ve moved out of the nest

While you’ve remained precariously entrenched

One foot dangling from the edge

The other in the snug comfort of the drawing room carpet

Feathers hidden under oversized clothes

Eyes looking out to the horizon

Head bowed

Ears at the door for any signs you’re being spoken about in accusatory tones

Retreating slowly into the same existence
